Newport Beach, CA - March 26, 2002: What better way to show confidence in the quality of your construction product than by allowing the principal construction professionals working with it to have the ability to personally test it? That is the belief of Hacker Industries, Inc., the supplier of FIRM-FILL Gypsum Concretes and GYP-SPAN Radiant, known in the building community as Hacker Floor Underlyaments. Hacker Industries' "Quality Control Kits" will be supplied to Contractors and Developers who are using a Hacker Floor Underlayment in their construction project, providing these individuals with the equipment and instruction necessary to complete a Patty Test. Since it is extremely important to use the proper amount of water when any gypsum concrete is mixed during installation at the jobsite, this test is used to measure the gypsum/water ratio of the floor underlayment.

The Quality Control Kit consists of a plexiglas surface, a one-quart container, a stir stick, a ruler and an instruction folder for patty and cubes. The Patty Test consists of pouring a sample of the mixed Hacker Floor Underlayment from the end of the installation hose into the cup. After the sample is gently stirred, it is poured into a cylinder that is held on a level plexiglas surface. Without hesitation, the cylinder is removed allowing the Hacker Floor Underlayment mix to flow out the bottom, forming a round patty on the plexiglas. The resulting patty size, when measured with a ruler, shows if the product is mixed according to product specifications.

Patty Tests are also completed by the Hacker Licensed Applicator installing the underlayment, not only prior to the installation, but also several times during the project to assure consistency and quality control. The message Hacker Industries' wants to send to the building community is that their commitment to quality is as strong as the floors their products create.
